Parent Guidance
Parenting is hard work and can be even more challenging when a child is having a difficult time. Often times it is the parents who will be the targets of difficult behavior or angry feelings. In working with children, I find it helpful to incorporate parent meetings to address parenting concerns and to find new ways of communicating and boundary setting. A child does not grow up in a vacuum and your insights, observations and instincts about your child are vital to treatment.
I work with parents in either stand alone Parent Guidance, or as part of treatment with their child or adolescent. Parenting can possibly be the hardest job one can have. It can also be rich and rewarding. In Parent Guidance, we can address your concerns about parenting your child, what is working and what may need to be adjusted. We can also talk about where your child is developmentally and what approaches might be best suited at this time. Just as individual therapy with your child can add tools to his or her tool box, Parent Guidance can add tools to your own parenting tool box.
