About Christina Walker, Psy. D.
Clinical Psychologist | Corte Madera | Marin
I have been working in the field of psychology for almost 15 years. I attended graduate school at The University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology. While in graduate school, I received extensive training in child development, family dynamics, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and attachment theory. My clinical placements included schools, residential treatment centers, and outpatient clinics.
I completed a one-year APA (American Psychological Association) accredited internship at Kaiser Permanente’s Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in San Diego, California. During this year I gained valuable experience working within a large mental health service clinic, working with a wide range of people and presenting problems. I also completed rotations in their Chemical Dependency and Recovery Program, the Emergency Department, and the San Diego Family Justice Center.
Upon completion of my internship year, I decided to further my studies and deepen my understanding of child and adolescent psychology. I completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, Inc. During this year, I provided therapy to children, adolescents and families in an outpatient clinic. I participated in their Mobile Crisis Team. After this year of training, I knew that I wanted to focus on working with children, and that I also wanted to return to California. Since returning to California I worked in non-profits, including Family Service Agency of Marin and Adolescent Counseling Services. I began working in private practice in Los Altos, and expanded my practice to include Marin County, which is now my primary office.
I genuinely enjoy being a psychologist. I think that the tools learned and insights gained in therapy can provide support and help for years. I hope that my website has provided you with information about what therapy with me might be like.
